It doesn’t matter how many times I walk into SLG’s award winning studios and lab space, I’m always blown away by its sublime fusion of urban cool design and relaxed luxury.
When consolidating both the SLG Gloucester based site and their Cheltenham based team colleagues into one spectacular new HQ in Cheltenham, CEO Miles Dunkley didn’t just want to create a super cool working environment for his team. He wanted to deliver his vision for a workspace that ignited creativity and encouraged a healthy, happy working lifestyle.
And he’s done just that… in abundance.
Miles explained “Staff well-being, fulfilment and motivation is a huge priority for us, as is a love of design and beauty. Studio 19 is really a reflection of those ideologies.”
While the modern office has evolved quite considerably over the last 20 years, with the early 2000s seeing the death of the cubicle and the birth of open plan, one thing that will never change is the impact an office environment has on its workforce.
A workplace environment can be the making or breaking of its people, and if not properly considered can lead to a stressed out and unmotivated team.
When we consider that we spend a third of our lives at work, it should be essential that employers take the physical work environment of their employees seriously.
Miles Dunkley has done exactly that at Studio 19. Combining an aesthetically magnificent space with clever breakout zones, he has created a haven for elevating creative excellence, productivity and staff morale.
The space is a combination of a fantastic open plan layout across 27,000 square feet with private rooms for taking calls, meditative quiet spaces and creative labs. There’s even a skateboard “freeway” that runs the full length of the office and graffiti ceilings.
Each element has been carefully considered to seamlessly blend office dynamism with interior design cues; a strategy that blurs the lines between work and pleasure, fosters collaboration and maximises employee wellbeing.
I believe SLG are setting a new standard for office space design, and in doing so is a perfect example of how businesses of all sizes can create a happier, healthier, and more productive work environment.
For a limited time only on Wednesday 30th October you will get the chance to see this awe-inspiring space for yourself.
